Bethan Hughes’ Pwytho Llais (Stitching a Voice) is a collection of textile work exploring themes of democracy, politics, identity and community. SMany of the quilts feature the small cross mark we make for many reasons, and I have focussed on its symbolism as the vote and the kiss.”

Look closely. Notice the words and symbols that have been printed so deliberatively, and captured like shadows amongst layers of fabrics and threads. Listen carefully to the chatter of stitches as they scribble furiously across their soft canvases. Hear the hushed clamour rising…

Ymunwch â ni am baned a chacen a chlywed y

stori anhygoel hon. Fe wnaeth llawer o ferched

lleol lofnodi’r ddeiseb. A wnaeth eich hen nain

ei llofnodi? A wnaeth rhywun a oedd yn byw yn

eich tŷ chi lofnodi?

Bydd yr artist Bethan M. Hughes yn egluro sut y

mae’r ddeiseb wedi ysbrydoli creadigrwydd a’r

modd y mae’n rhoi gwybodaeth i ni am hanes

lleol a theuluol. Bydd Bethan hefyd yn dangos

enghreifftiau o’i gwaith tecstiliau sydd wedi

ennyn llawer o glod.
